The Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering (FKAAS) was established on May 1, 2004 as a result of the merging of two departments, i.e. the Department of Civil Engineering (Faculty of Engineering) and the Department of Construction and Environmental Engineering Technology (Faculty of Engineering Technology). The Department of Civil Engineering dates back to September 13, 1993 when Pusat Latihan Staf Politeknik (PLSP) was set up, while the Department of Construction and Environmental Engineering Technology was established on September 30, 2000 when Institut Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (ITTHO) was upgraded to Kolej Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (KUiTTHO).

FKAAS offers academic programmes to students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. These programmes are specifically designed towards the achievement of the faculty's vision and mission. Boasting a pool of academicians and researchers with doctorates from all across the globe, including United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Germany, Sweden, New Zealand, Japan and Hong Kong, FKAAS is a prime mover in conducting innovative and sustainable research in accordance with the needs of the nation. With its top quality education and prowess in research and development, FKAAS strives to become a driving force in producing human capital, and a main center of reference in civil and environmental engineering.

Aspiring to lead the application of civil and environmental engineering knowledge in providing innovative and sustainable solutions for the benefit of mankind.

Our mission

To produce and train professionals who are creative, innovative, competent and responsible to fulfill the societal and environmental needs in a progressive and sustainable manner.

Quality Objectives

  1. Conduct all academic programmes and be recognized by relevant accreditation bodies.
  2. Produce at least 12% of Bachelor graduates with Cumulative Point Average (CPA) of 3.50 and above, and 7% of First Class Bachelor graduates every year.
  3. Produce academic staff with the following qualification:
    • 60% academic staff with PhD in their respective fields.
    • 7% of academic staff registered as Professional Engineers with Board of Engineers Malaysia or any equivalent professional body.
    • All academic staff should be a member of at least one professional body related to their field.
  4. Produce at least two publications per academic staff in international / local journals or proceedings every year.
  5. Ensure 100% academic staff are involved in research and at least 60% in consultancy every year.
  6. Ensure each staff is given the opportunity to attend self-development courses at least 7 days in a year.
  7. Ensure faculty staff and students participate at least 5 programs related to community service every year.

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh and Greetings.

I would like to congratulate all students at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering (FKAAS) UTHM. All of you are very fortunate to be selected to enter this University, which is well-equipped with current infrastructure and conducive learning environment. Being selected to this university is a great privilege that should not be wasted. This is due to the fact that the education process at the tertiary level requires continuous effort and commitment so that the knowledge gained can produce students who are excellent in all aspects in accordance with the needs of industries and nation.

In order to accomplish the University’s mission, which is to produce and train competitive professionals and technologists of high ethical values, you will be guided by qualified, committed, and responsible academic staff. FKAAS offers academic programmes based on advanced civil engineering fields as well as focuses on sustainable environment for universal prosperity. To enhance students’ understanding and creativity, the faculty provides laboratories equipped with the latest equipment and assisted by well-trained technicians. Students will also have to undergo practical work in the field relevant to the current industrial needs.
